Privacy policy
In effect from 25 July 2026.
ReelTrack collects as little as it can: what's needed to sign you in, follow series and tell you when an episode airs. We don't sell anything on, we don't show ads, and we don't track you around the web.
1 Who is responsible
ReelTrack is currently run privately by an individual in Sweden — there is no registered company behind the service yet. The data controller for everything described here is therefore a private individual, not a company.
You can reach us at the address at the bottom of this page. If you want to know exactly who is behind the service, ask and we'll tell you.
2 What we collect
All of the below comes from you, either when you create an account or as you use the service. We don't buy data from anyone.
- Account details: your name, your email address, your password in hashed form, and when you verified your email address.
- What you follow: the series you've added, your thumbs up and thumbs down, and the genres you picked when you started.
- Settings: your chosen language, whether you want email reminders, and which plan the account is on.
- Technical logs: our web server records IP address, timestamp and which page was requested. That's needed to run the service and keep it secure.
3 Why we process it
We process your account details and what you follow in order to deliver the service you signed up for — it is necessary to perform our contract with you.
We process server logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and protected from abuse.
We don't use your data for advertising and we don't profile you for marketing. The recommendations in the app are worked out from what you have followed and rated yourself, and are used only to suggest series to you.
4 Email we send
We email you when you need to verify your address, when you request a new password, and — if you've chosen it — when a new episode of a series you follow airs. You can turn reminders off in settings.
We don't send newsletters, and we don't pass your address to anyone else to send you things.
5 Services we rely on
Series data comes from TMDB. Posters and backdrops load directly from TMDB's servers, which means your browser contacts them and your IP address is visible to them whenever you view a page with images on it.
The typeface on this site is loaded from Google Fonts, with the same consequence: your browser contacts Google and your IP address is visible there.
We also use OMDb for ratings, but it is only ever called by a scheduled job on our own server, never with any information about you.
TMDB and Google are US services. We send no account data to them — what's transferred is whatever your own browser reveals when it fetches an image or a font.
6 Cookies
reeltrack.tv uses no cookies at all. There is no visitor analytics, no measurement and no tracking pixels on this site, which is why you aren't met by a cookie banner.
The app at app.reeltrack.tv uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in. That isn't cookies, and it only holds what the session needs. If you leave “remember me” unticked it's gone when you close the tab.
7 How long we keep it
We keep your account details and what you follow for as long as you have an account. Server logs are kept for a limited period and then cleared.
If you want your account and its data deleted, email us and we'll do it. There is currently no button for this in the app — deletion is done manually by us.
8 Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to know what data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased, to receive it in a machine-readable format, to object to certain processing and to ask that processing be restricted.
Get in touch at the address below and we'll help. If you think we're handling your data wrongly, you also have the right to complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), or to the supervisory authority where you live.
9 Security
Passwords are never stored in the clear — they're hashed — and all traffic to and from the service is encrypted over HTTPS.
No service can promise perfect security. Use a password you don't reuse anywhere else, so a leak somewhere else stays somewhere else.
10 Changes to this policy
If we change anything material we'll update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use ReelTrack after a change means the new version applies.
11 Contact
Questions about your data, or want something corrected or deleted? Email us and we'll answer.
